About the event
The story of Bengal in Nagpur goes back further than you might imagine. From the Bhosales’ connections with Bengal to the arrival of the Bengal Nagpur Railway and the Bengali communities that followed, many threads connect the two regions.
On this walk, we explore how Bengal found a home in Nagpur — and how Durga Puja became part of the city’s cultural landscape. Along the way, we’ll uncover stories of the people, communities and institutions that shaped this connection, while discovering the traditions, rituals and stories that make Durga Puja what it is.
On 18 October, the walk also offers a glimpse into a special Maharashtrian tradition and the cultural practices that come alive during this festive season.
A journey through people, history, traditions and the many ways in which Nagpur celebrates.
